David W. Pritchard, President & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Pritchard joins KaloBios with more than 25 years of experience in general management, business development and financial management within the biopharmaceutical industry. Most recently he held the position of CBO at Rinat Neuroscience Corporation, where he managed the negotiations on the acquisition of Rinat by Pfizer in 2006 for a reported $500 million. Prior to that he was CFO at Matrix Pharmaceuticals, and managed the sale of the company to Chiron Corporation in 2002 (now Novartis). Between 1992 and 2000 David served as VP, Business Development and CFO of Metabolex, Inc. where he completed three rounds of financing and negotiated four worldwide corporate alliances with major pharmaceutical companies, and in-licensed metaglidasen. He started his biotechnology career at Triton Biosciences, Inc. as one of the founding managers, where he held various positions including heading up the sales and marketing efforts, commercial development, a business unit, and ultimately managed the sale of Triton (predominately to Schering AG, now Bayer). Triton developed Betaseron® for multiple sclerosis (2005 sales exceeded $1 billion), and Fludara® for leukemia. David holds an MBA degree from Stanford University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Cornell.

Geoffrey Yarranton, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, Executive Vice President, Research & Development
Dr. Yarranton has over 20 years of experience in the biotechnology industry both in Europe and the US. He spent 16 years at Celltech Therapeutics in the UK where he led their research activities. During that time he led a ‘joint venture’ between Celltech and American Cyanamid (later Wyeth) that developed the first approved antibody-drug conjugate, Mylotarg. Dr. Yarranton also designed and developed the bacterially-produced PEGylated anti-TNF antibody Fab fragment (CDP870) currently in Phase III studies for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. In 1998, Dr. Yarranton joined Coulter Pharmaceutical where he led the team that refiled the BLA for Bexxar, a radioiodinated antibody for the treatment of relapsed and refractory Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Following the acquisition of Coulter Pharmaceutical by Corixa, Dr. Yarranton became site director of the South San Francisco site and joined Deltagen in May 2002 as Executive Vice President of Research and Development.

Tillman Pearce, M.D. - Chief Medical Officer
Tillman Pearce has served as Chief Medical Officer since April 2007 and has approximately 15 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in both Europe and the United States . He comes to KaloBios from Protein Design Labs in Paris, France, where he held the position Senior Director, Clinical Research and directed their European office. Between 1997 to 2002, he was Medical Director at Sanofi~Synthelabo, S.A. in Paris, France, in their Oncology Business Unit. Prior to that, he held the position of Director, Clinical Research at Novartis Pharma AG in Basle, Switzerland. Dr. Pearce received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia and is board-certified in both internal medicine and hematology.

Mark R. Alfenito, Ph.D., Head of Technology Licensing
Dr. Alfenito was previously Vice President of Corporate Development at Dyax Corp (DYAX; NASDAQ), a company that makes peptide and antibody therapeutics via phage display. Previously, Dr. Alfenito served as President of Target Quest, a human antibody therapeutics company that subsequently merged with the then privately held Dyax Corp. Prior to joining Target Quest, Dr. Alfenito served as Associate Director of Corporate Development at Hyseq, Inc. (NUVO; NASDAQ) He holds a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.S. and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, and did his postdoctoral work at Stanford University. He is the inventor on several patents and has a significant publication record.

Dan Shochat, Ph.D., Vice President, Head of Non-clinical Development
Dr. Shochat has over 22 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and is a pioneer in the antibody development arena. At Immunomedics, he led the team that developed the approved in vivo tumor-imaging reagent CEA-Scan. He joined American Cyanamid in 1989 to establish their biotechnology development capability and led the team that developed the first approved antibody-drug conjugate, Mylotarg. In 1995, Dr. Shochat became the first employee of Coulter Pharmaceutical, where he established a ‘virtual development activity’ managing the outsourcing of process development, manufacturing and quality systems by recruiting key experts in each area. He designed and established the process, formulation, and facility to commercially radiolabel the anti-B1 antibody at a 55 curie scale. The lead product from this work is Bexxar, a radioiodinated antibody for the treatment of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma approved by the FDA in 2003.

Charles J. Democko, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs & Quality
Mr. Democko has served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs & Quality at KaloBios since January 2008. Mr. Democko has over 25 years of experience in research and development in start-up to mid-size pharmaceutical companies. He comes to KaloBios from Novacea Inc. where he held the position of Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Development Operations. Prior to Novacea, Mr. Democko held the position of Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Development at PharmacoFore Inc. Prior to that he served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs at Connetics Inc. Mr. Democko has also held management level positions at Theravance Inc., Elan Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Genentech Inc. Mr. Democko holds a BS in Microbiology from The Ohio State University.

Carol Stratford, Ph.D., J.D., General Counsel
Dr. Stratford has served as General Counsel and Head of Intellectual Property at KaloBios since September 2007. Dr. Stratford has over 20 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceuticals industries. Prior to joining KaloBios, Dr. Stratford worked for Pfizer as Site Head of the Rinat Laboratories facility in South San Francisco, California. She had previously served as Vice President of Intellectual Property at Rinat Neuroscience. Dr. Stratford has also held senior management level positions at Elan Pharmaceuticals and Galileo Pharmaceuticals. She holds a BS/AM in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan, and a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law.

Christopher Bebbington, Ph.D., Vice President, Research
Dr. Bebbington has over 18 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, particularly in antibody expression technology and drug discovery for immune-based diseases. He worked for 14 years at Celltech where he developed the glutamine synthetase (GS) gene amplification system for the efficient production of recombinant antibodies in mammalian cell systems. This technology has led to antibody production yields of 1g/L at large scale. In 1999, Dr. Bebbington joined Coulter Pharmaceutical and led the California research group of Corixa following the merger of Coulter Pharmaceutical with Corixa. He led the team that generated an engineered human antibody to the type I interferon receptor and obtained the preclinical data necessary to support the clinical development of this antibody for the treatment of several autoimmune diseases.

Jeanne Y. Jew, Head of Pharmaceutical Business Development
Ms. Jew joins KaloBios with over 15 years of experience in business development in the biopharmaceutical industry. Before joining KaloBios, Ms. Jew served as Vice President, Corporate and Commercial Development at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from 2002 to 2007 where she was responsible for all business development activities. Prior to Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Ms. Jew served in positions of increasing responsibility at Coulter Pharmaceutical and became Vice President, Business Development following the acquisition of Coulter Pharmaceutical by Corixa Corporation. Ms. Jew has also held business development positions at Scios, Inc. and Genentech, Inc. Ms. Jew holds a BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University and a MBA in Business Administration from Cornell University.

Thomas C. Yonker, Head of Project Management
Mr. Yonker joins KaloBios with over 25 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry in start-up to large pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Yonker comes to KaloBios from Entelos where he held the position of Senior Director, ISRD Operations & Program Management. Prior to Entelos, Mr. Yonker held the position of Senior Director, Project & Portfolio Office at Abgenix and before that was Vice President, Project & Alliance Management at Corgentech. Mr. Yonker has also held management level positions with InterMune, Aviron, ALZA Corporation, Synergen Inc., Glaxo Research Institute and The Upjohn Company. Mr. Yonker holds a BS in Biomedical Science and a MBA in Management from Western Michigan University .
