KaloBios has developed a rapid method for empirically identifying the sub-CDR residues that are responsible for the specificity of the starting antibody (the Minimal Essential Binding Determinants, or “MEBDs”). These few residues are transferred to the partial V region ‘Acceptor’ Library. This creates a directed or 'Epitope Focused' library constraining all of the members of the library to the identical starting epitope.
