Ronald A. Martell

Executive Chairman

Ronald A. Martell has served as a member of our Board since April 2015, and was appointed as Executive Chairman in May 2015. For more than 25 years, Mr. Martell has built and managed unique businesses in the biotech industry. Mr. Martell is currently a co-founder of two life sciences companies, IGIstat Diagnostics and Cetya Pharmaceuticals. Most recently up until January 2015, Mr. Martell was Chief Executive Officer of Sevion Therapeutics. Prior to Sevion, from January 2012 to July 2013, Mr. Martell was President and Chief Executive Officer of NeurogesX and sold the company and assets to Acorda Therapeutics and Astellas Pharma Europe. Prior to NeurogesX, Mr. Martell was President and Chief Executive Officer of Poniard Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career he served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at ImClone Systems. He built ImClone Systems' World Wide Commercial Operations and field sales force to market and commercialize Erbitux® with partners Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck KGaA. Prior to joining ImClone Systems, Mr. Martell worked for more than 10 years at Genentech in a variety of leadership positions, the last of which was Group Manager, Oncology.
